Nordmøre museum in Kristiansund is the regional museum for Nordmøre, the northern part of Møre og Romsdal county. The museum was founded in 1894.

Main subjects for the museum are maritime culture with an emphasis on craftsmanship and early industry, fisheries, export and shipping. The main museum building contains administration offices and permanent exhibitions. In addition the museum is comprised of 16 various buildings preserved in the original environment around the harbor of Kristiansund. Most of these building are to be found in the inner harbor, Vågen. These buildings include 2 salt cod warehouses, a tinsmith's shop, a cooperage, a ropewalk and a working shipyard, Mellemværftet.

Fisheries have been a mainstay of inhabitants of the region since the dawn of time. Fishing for spawning cod has been the most important fishery along with the herring fishery and is therefore a main feature of the exhibit.
